.what's love gotta do with it?.

.beautiful heart of two different hands.
i might as well get this post over with, since i don't want to talk about it tomorrow. so yeah, the 14th, D-Day, SAD--Singles Awareness Day. i think it's funny how the majority of people who scoff at this day and say it's just another day, are in relationships. meanwhile, the rest of the singles are just kinda waiting for another painful kick to the groin without a moment's notice. trying to avoid the aisle with the cards, balloons, candy hearts, anything that says russell stover on it. the grass is always greener, eh?
funny enough, valentine's day sucked more when i was in high school. the big thing to do was to have flowers sent to school that day, and then your name would be called over the loud speaker to report to the general office. with a smug look on their face, these girls would fawn over their "surprise" and lug it to and fro, so as to not ruin it in their locker. how many times i just wanted to trip these girls in the hallway...too many to count.
you're right gentle readers, valentine's day is just a commercialized excuse to cash in on a day that has a title attached to it. love shouldn't be celebrated or recognized on just one day, but everyday. yeah, still didn't convince me either, mainly because love isn't celebrated everyday. i don't know bout you males, but i am pretty certain that a woman appreciates just the smallest recognition and affirmation once in a while. that can be material--a card, dinner, heck, a note, a text, a call. that can be as simple as breaking up the monotonous routine of work and home, by keeping her company in the library, or offering to help cook dinner. i know, ya'll aren't mind readers. we've idealized you too much in our heads. our expectations of you have been over the top. well, then, pick a vowel and get a clue. not all of us are high maintenance, we're just mushy in the inside, hard candy shell on the outside. and don't say this holiday was created for women to cash in. the first valentine card was created by a man. doofus.

i'm not angry. i'm practical.
